Second Life has everything to offer for it's modern age military role playing residents, and Olds Air Force Base has that everything. All that you can imagine on a real life Air Force Base, but without the drill instructors yelling in your face. From the barracks that a soldier would rest ...

The Olds AFB sim surprised me at the detail and historically accurate additions. From the looming flag of the Soviet Union to the nuclear submarine docked just beside the hangars. As well as the extensive brush, multi-windowed two story homes, and small bunkers added to the landscape, there are endless possibilities for an ambush.

Olds AFB gave me a rather personal experience; not being able to fly I found a vehicle and rode across the village and island-dotted landscape. I had noticed that most of the landscape is destructible - vehicles, bridges, homes, hangars - in which only added to the authenticity and overall fun and roleplay ability of this sim.

I met a lone sniper scouting about the brush, over-viewing a deserted town. I gave a friendly "Hello" and was captured and threatened to be put in a labor camp. I enjoyed this moment, as it gave me a new personal rule - next time I go to a war-zone, come armed!

I met up with a regular to the sim, a man named Van V. Valek, a friendly fellow in military attire, despite the warfare going on just beyond the walls of the base. His favorite part about the sim was the water trails running throughout the islands for boats and amphibious vehicles. I was offered to participate in the Halloween costume contest, probably for my rather unique avatar. For a group of warlike people, behind the walls is a group of friendly people wanting to hang out.

Overall this seems like a great place for people who are looking for a good adrenaline rush, and the bloodlust of warfare. You should definitely visit this sim. Bring friends, and a hell of a lot of ammo.

I enjoy and respect the military and the people who serve The United States of America. I also enjoy the rich history of the military and learning more about the sacrifice of service. Olds AFB is a great place to come and not just visit but to learn and immerse yourself ...
